Eeeeeee. I am still finding trivia out about Velvet Goldmine.
Watching "Kiss of the Spider Woman" just now--last watched it about 10 years ago, or more. Anyway, so William Hurt's Molina is... Jack Fairy. Here I am, jotting down notes, "prison, homosexual, political prisoner, queen, drag, stories, Lilies, Lady of the Flowers, Jean Genet, Poison..."
And then Molina ducks behind a curtain and reappears, elegant, theatrical, silk robe, red hair parted to the side and swept to the ear, pale, makeup, proclaiming: "Stepping into the spotlight is that legendary star, that ravishing chanteuse... Leni... Lamaison!"
And it's the scene where Jack Fairy comes down the stairs at the nightclub. Almost exactly. Of course I cannot find clips online to show you... but really.
I am totally excited now.
