Still Fastlane, sorry

I think as I re-watch the episodes, I am going to have to keep a running tally of Moments So Damn Slashy I Almost Can't Believe What I'm Watching.

Episode 1: nothing really. Oh, there's slashyness aplenty, but it gets wiped out by the ensuing episodes.

Episode 2: Deaq keeps griping about Van hooking up with the female marks, yells at him for having been out with a girl because he made Deaq worry, and insists that Van call him whenever he intends to stay out late. Van has to apologize, swear that he was by himself, and promise to always call from now on. Oh, and that part where Van tells Deaq he think he has a nice ass, even with the bullet-scar. That counts too.

Episode 3: Deaq continues to grouse about Van falling for the female marks, even though Van does not do so in this episode--but it's pretty normal-level slashyness, nothing outrageous. Cute little exchange on whether giving mouth-to-mouth counts as a gay act: Van is willing to do it on another man, Deaq is not.

Episode 4: Van wants to come over and make Deaq dinner, but Deaq turns him down, lying about being too tired. Van finds out it's because an old girlfriend of Deaq's is coming over instead and explodes, ambushing Deaq and screaming at him about lying to him and how he had never lied to Deaq, and demanding that Deaq never keep anything like that from him again. Deaq tells him that the business with the girl is all in the past but says he can't promise to never keep anything personal from Van. Van storms out. (Then he comes back, of course.) And at the end, the girl gets on a bus and leaves, the bus pulls out... and Van is standing behind it, with a shy smile and an aw-shucks air, to walk Deaq home and cheer him up.

I'm kind of trying to figure out here at which point slash becomes canon.

And, this is only really slashy in the inflection, but when Deaq is held and tortured by a couple of thugs and he calls Van to tell him their plans are off and he's gonna make it an early night, but he's counting on the fact that Van knows when he's lying, and Van tells him to get some rest with so much care in his voice (right before running off to see what's going on) that it's just... whoah.

tv/movie ramblings, fastlane, slash, gaygaygay
