I really really wish that instead of writing whatever other papers, I could instead write an essay on Oscar Wilde and Sincerity. (I may yet, and none of you will read it.) I'm all excited because I think I've figured out how to tell when he is being sincere, especially in his plays: his language always gets so effortlessly artificial. It is a bit like how I know his letters to Bosie were motivated by a realer passion than those to his wife in their initial courtship: most of the ones to Bosie are so horribly cliche.
I suppose it may sound like I am being silly myself, but I am quite, quite in earnest.
Also, goodness but I love that man. So much. Though if I ever felt somewhat snarky, I could also write a little essay on Oscar Wilde and Redundancy.
