Follow up; Gwen Stefani Must Die

Nov 26, 2006 22:22

I know I already talked about DHOOM:2 in my last entry, but I'd also like to link you to my sister's livejournal, where she talks about it with somewhat more gusto and fangirlishness. Also more photos.

And I would also like to share this with anybody who's curious--a youtube link to the entire movie. (Though I only linked the first of four parts.)

On a completely different note, I've recently come across this (fairly new) photo of Gwen Stefani, and... ugh.

Are those the Harajuku girls behind her? Is she dragging that little Asian minstrel show around still? And... does the girl to the right of her have fake buck teeth? Are they pursing their lips? What the hell? Did she actually dress them up as blonde versions of MAD tv's Miss Swan this time?!

She just gets more awful and disgusting by the minute. I can't wait to see which foreign culture or subculture she'll decide to add to her repertoire next. Maybe she'll be inspired by the crisis in Darfur, and we can look forward to four adorable little black girls named "Banana," "Sahara," "Tusky" and "Hottentot" making their debut on next year's tour.

ETA: Okay, it seems like the Harajuku girls have now been transformed into regular back-up dancers. However, what Gwen's lost in racist points, she made up for in misogynistic ones. Hurray for girls as literal wind-up dolls dancing for boys' benefit! All while wearing babydoll dresses and flipping them to reveal little-girl underwear. I'm kind of getting the feeling that Gwen came across some type of book like Issues of Subjugation in the 19th Century: Alterity, The Woman Question, and the Oriental Other and decided that everything described there was A GREAT IDEA to imitate.
