Alex and cherry blossoms and french fries.

This weekend was sorta so-so. Alex came to see me, which was good, but we didn't really end up doing anything. He was running late in getting here (as usual), but now that I'm used to it, I didn't panic as much, and instead called Ivan, Krystal (keikokat) and Heather, and they came to hang out with me at the metro station. Eventually Alex showed up, and we went to my house where I fed him soup and Ivan ate a lot of chocolate and Krystal and Heather didn't eat the grapes I served them, and we talked.

Then Saturday, we were gonna go try to visit the Masonic memorial again, but--again--ended up being too late. So we took a stroll around my park (it's so pretty right now!) and then went to see the cherry blossoms in D.C. That was okay. Personally, I think the lake in my park, surrounded as it is by blooming trees, is prettier. Plus, as a_priori and rissyau already said, there were tons of people.

It was very irritating though, because soon we wanted to leave, but the metro being full, we tried to walk--and no matter where we went, we ended up coming right back to where we started: Independence Ave. and 12th. That's when I got all upset and frustrated, because no matter what, whatever direction we took, we ended up there--like in some stupid movie. And my foot was hurting from my shoe, and I kept trying to get away from that damn 12th street, but we'd walk, and walk, and suddenly be right at that intersection again.

Eventually we gave up and took the metro.

After finally getting out of D.C. (and not finding this deli joint I wanted), we made a brief stop at Target, looking for a hoodie for Alex, but couldn't find one. (Well, it is spring). So we went to another local vegan restaurant. They had quite amazing service, but I wasn't as impressed with their food.

And then we went home and watched late-night tv and went to bed. And then Alex left.

I was intending to go watch a Bollywood film with dangermousie after that, but then she cancelled due to the movie not having subtitles. (And told me she'd call me back, but didn't!) So I was all alone with nothing to do, and sad and lonely.

I ended up taking a nap, and then calling everyone I knew who was in the area, who were all out--which made sense, considering the lovely weather and all. So I decided that if I couldn't get anyone to hang out with me, I'd just go rent some silly movie from Blockbuster's, and get me a large order of McDonald's fries, and watch the movie and pig out. But then I called Ivan again, and he, being the sweetheart that he is, agreed to come over and watch the movie with me. (Also, he wanted to get the sweatshirt he left at my house on Friday back.) So we ate french fries and watched "Saved!" and my Sunday was redeemed.

friends, alex, weekend
