Doctor Who - The End of Time

It's mostly been uncontrollable sobbing since I watched EOT Part 2 Friday. But, now that I've had some time to collect myself, I'm going to try to string together some (ETA: more than some, apparently - this one got away from me a bit) coherent  semi-coherent  slightly coherent vaguely coherent-ish like thoughts re: The End of Time... Fair warning ( Read more... )

I can scarcely look at Matt Smith's moments in EoT. It just feels wrong. I don't think I can fairly judge him yet, though, so I'm trying not to too much. It did seem like he was trying to replicate some of DT's elements, but part of that could be the context, and there's no telling how much he'll stick with that. I wouldn't mind a couple hat tips to Ten, like DT did to other prior Doctors, but MS better not try to echo very much Ten, because DT just can't be reproduced. I hope MS knows better.

MS certainly will not try to copy DT in any way. It would be utter craziness to think he could copy that manic way of Ten's. The producers know better than to even try, trust me.

I've been a Who fan since the fourth Doctor, so I've seen quite a few regenerations. I cried during Ten's final moments and the destruction of the TARDIS just made me cry harder. But I have to say MS's few lines/actions give me some hope of the continuation of the series. DT is a very tough act to follow and I believe he knows he's got his work cut out for himself.

My friend won't continue on with the series now that DT is not in it, as she considers herself more a DT fan than a Who fan.

I enjoyed your reaction post. I, too, love Wilf. I was very happy he got a chance to travel in the TARDIS and be a proper companion. And I, too, wish he could be the Doctor's Dad.

If MS occasionally echos a few of Ten's mannerisms, that will be ok. But yeah, I don't think he'll try to extensively copy him either. I've been hearing lots of fan concern about that since EoT part 2 aired, but I agree with you that MS and the production team surely will be smarter than that.

I'm definitely going to keep watching the series. I also intend at some point to go back and watch the older Who years.

I'm so glad you enjoyed my post! Thank you! And thank you for your great comments!

Wilf is love! <3
