Small victories...

1) My manuscript was not nearly as torn to pieces as I expected.  I did have to rewrite the intro, but only because I spent 4 years of undergrad writing more than was necessary to meet word counts and now have to learn how to be concise.

2) The communal fridge in the grad student office smelled like death.  I seriously gagged everytime someone opened it and the smell drifted back to my desk.  Today I armed myself with elbow length rubber gloves, 409, and a sponge to slay the blimpie bag that was responsible for most of the smell (opening that bag was a mistake, it could have ended the fight before it was even begun).  There were also at least 3 large tubs of moldy yogurt and several other expired items.  Additionally the microwave had probably years of food dried onto the inside of it.  Both are now clean thanks to the efforts of myself and a fellow grad student.  It was an epic battle, but we were victorious.  Our fellow grad students will no doubt rejoice.
