Summer is so deliciously close I can taste it. Sunshine, movies, road trip to Nebraska to see my grandma...bike rides...only two short and crazy weeks of school insanity and I'll be free!
C surprised me with an island vacation for our anniversary--a Lighthouse bed & breakfast right in the San Francisco bay. It was so cute, we ran around on the top of the lighthouse making silly movies on my digital camera, and drank lots of good wine and watched fireworks--go figure. We had the best room, too, with a great view of the water and Marin and seagulls and seals (well, we could ALMOST see the seals from our room...). Cheers to our Three Year Anniversary...and here's to many many more with my true love cuddle bucket.
Then we visited her dad in Pinole and drove around just like when I was a kid, no particular place to go, but just go...not on the freeway, but on little twisty roads around the bay, down to a biker bar under the Carquinez bridge. When I was a kid, my mom, dad, and sister used to pile into the old Ford Falcon or whatever cheap car we had at the moment and just drive for hours. V and I would always try to find a way to cross a state line, but Nebraska is a little too big for all that, and anyway, the closest choices were Iowa or Kansas...whatever. Still, there's something so beautifully American...something so great about driving around in a car...guzzle...guzzle...war...war... I can't help it--driving around is fun.
But so is biking, and we're going for a bikey trip this weekend! Yay!
