yesterday i had a somewhat dramatic bike accident. i was riding my bike into town, actually to return it to the bike rental office (the city rents them out. 15 euros for students per month.) Whereupon I had the most spectacular fall. I was going downhill and the bike lane ended. There was a tiny low curb and my bike decided it didnt want to over it. There were a lot of cars and I'm really happy that I didnt get ran over and didnt get seriously injured. My knees got really cut up and now are really swollen and I have rather spectacular bruises. My host mom is making me go to the doctor tomorrow to make sure its ok.

In other news, I have to switch my flights so that I come home to Houston a few days earlier than the original this Saturday, I'm hoping for Wednesday. But changing flights is more expensive and complicated than I thought it would be. I was on hold forever with international calling charges (because British Airways France Customer Service doesnt answer the phone on weekends) and didn't get anywhere. So I'm waiting for my mom to be awake in the U.S. to have her call and try. Of course the easy answer would be if these things were do-able online, but apparently they're not.
The reason for needing to switch my flights is that I won't have enough time if I don't. As of right now I get to Houston on Saturday evening, my brother's high school graduation is the next day Sunday, then I start work at 8am on Monday (which also happens to be my 21st birthday). And I'm required to go get a drug test done before I can start work. I would have no time to get over jetlag or anything. I would be dead. I also don't have enough work clothes.

I'm really sad to be leaving France and my friends here. But I'm also excited to go home.
