For any costume designer making non-replica version of the musical Notre Dame de Paris...

If you are using "timeless" design for that musical, use something like Carlotta´s sumptuous costume in The Phantom of the opera: red and black, velvet, lace and roses. Yes, it´s too mature, too pure, too whatever, but it looks BEAUTIFUL. After all, lyrics tell about "rainbow skirt", not ugly bathrobe. And please, PLEASE don´t bleat any rubbish about "she needs pure youthful color!" First: youth is less pure than cesspool, and if red roses make your mind jump to sewer more than ugly bathrobe... well, problem is not mine.

esmeralda, ugliness, musicals, hunchback of notre dame, notre dame de paris, the hunchback of notre dame
