Ok, my trip to Texas! hoozah!

May 26, 2005 20:04

Day 1 Wednesday 5/18: Not too much happened. Mom and I wanted to get on the road by 2pm, we didn't fully get on the road till about 3:30. We drove till about 10pm. Stop at a Best Western, just outside Louieville KY. Crashed for the night, got up early the next morning and took off at about 7am

Day 2 Thursday 5/19: Longest driving day, mom suggested stopping at a few places, but we both decided that we just wanted to get down there. About 8pm we decided it was time to find a hotel. We paid a little extra to stay at a Holiday Inn in Texarkana that had an indoor pool and a hot tub. The hot tub was broken, the pool water was hotter than the hot tub water. The hotel restaurant wasn't that great either, and there wasn't a remote for the TV! So I mention this the next morning and asked for some sort of reimbursement and they said they couldn't do anything. grr.

Day 3 Friday 5/20: Make it to San Antonio about 4pm. call my cousin, and met up with the family that was flying in that day. Went out to dinner, hung out by the pool. Not to much.

Day 4 Saturday 5/21: A whole lotta nothin' Just hung out by the pool in 101 degree weather, got burnt to a crisp! Pick up my lil sister from the airport.

Day 5 Sunday 5/22: My cousin's commencement at 9am! I was very proud of him becoming the first doctor of the Weier family! Headed back to the hotel, Erin and I, along with a few of my cousins all wanted to go bar hopping down at the RiverWalk. A place San Antonio is famous for, but the Aunts were "concerned" So we went to have dinner, the plan was everyone, aunts and kiddies included, go down and have dinner down there then the aunts and kiddies head back and the older cousins barhop, mind you the youngest one of us was my sister who is 21 so we're all responsible adults, but I dunno I guess my aunts forgot what it was like to by young. Really nice restaurant outdoors, good mexican food. (can you believe it I had mexican food!) Great entertainment. Well then had to get the aunts and kiddies back to the cars, and then the cousins were gonna hang out and bar hop, well the aunts didn't want that to happen, so they kinda made us drive them back to the hotel. After we got lost cause they didn't want to walk down the riverwalk back to where we parked. I got to see the ghetto of San Antonio and give my lil cousins a brief explanation of why people were sleeping on the sidewalk. Then on the way we happened to walk by the Alamo, which was cool and we had to stop for a picture. My lil cousin Joleen had the best quote "We walked all this way for a picture?!" By the time we got back to the hotel it was 11:30 and everyone was tired. So no bar hopping.. blargh.

Day 6 Monday 5/23: Get up and head to breakfast at Denny's, while a few people were heading back to Michigan, a few of us were gonna stay. Well Mom, Erin and I decided we had enough of the fam, and wanted to see the sights. The aunts were just content to sit around the pool of the hotel for the next few days, our family is not like that, when we go somewhere, we wanna do stuff. So the Burchills headed back to the RiverWalk, went on a boatride on the river which was very nice. Did some shopping, went to La Villita which was orginal downtown San Antonio, bought a lot of cool things. Like my $50 dollar cowboy hat! I got to stand on the same stage as Sandra Bullock did in "Miss Congielatity" You know the part where it's the swimsuit competition and the interview? Yeap I got to stand on the same stage! How cool is that! Then about 3pm we hit the road till about 10pm. Stayed at an average hotel, just to crash. At a hotel just 30 miles south of Cave City

Day 7 Tuesday 5/24: Got up and headed to Cave City, Went on a horse ride. Very low key, kinda boring since Erin and I know how to at least trot and they wouldn't let us, but it was cool. Got to see Coyotes, and turkeys and such. Then went on the Cave Tour to see a cave called Outlaw Cave. Basically it was Jesse Jame's Hideout. He would rob stage coaches up by mammoth cave (which was and is a very rich area) and then run back to the cave. There was a small hole up top where it basically was the vent for the fire. It was pretty cool. I saw cute little bats, but they were too high up for me to grab and hold :( Then we hit the road again. Did some more shopping, gotta love Crackel Barrel man. We stopped about 9pm, at a Best Western, really nice pool, good spa. Best Hotel the whole trip, only downside, Shoddy continental breakfast. All the other Best Westerns had REALLY good continental breakfastes, but all this one had was well.. coffee.. Blargh.

Day 8 Wednesday 5/25: Headed the rest of the way back to Michigan, dull boring.. sick of being in the car. Got back home, saw Dad gave him a hug. Had the option to spend the night. Didn't want to, I just wanted to get home in my own bed!! so I would not have to listen to my mom snore anymore!!! OI! I tell ya she's loud!!!

Well that was my trip to San Antonio, not a whole lot, but good none the less. I came back to a STACK of work!! plus I had to fix a whole lotta stuff!! Got some good time in with my mom and my sister, so it was good, could've been better, but eh... I want to go back in January when they drain the river to basically clean it up, and they have a huge Mud Fiesta.. that sounds WAAAY fun =D
