inheritance

Some people get money when a loved one dies, I got a bird. My dad had told me over Thanksgiving that he wanted me to bring the bird home with me should he die. I agreed, thinking it would be years before he died. We lost him 4 weeks later and I came home from Boston with Gus, now Gussie, in tow. The first two weeks everytime I went near her cage she'd hiss at me and half-heartedly lunged at me. I've been working with her steadily, getting her used to me. Yesterday I decided to try to hand feed her millet, her favorite treat. She willingly ate it while I held the spray. Today I was trying to exchange a food dish when she climbed onto the bowl and started eating. I stood there for at least 5 minutes while she happily ate. Makes me wonder if I could target train her to mount the bowl should I remove her from her cage. Tradition dictates that I train her to step up on a perch but so far she hasn't shown interest. I'm betting clicker training could be helpful. :)
