Still Feeling Blah

Sep 11, 2011 20:44

I'm still feeling blah and I can't seem to shake it despite my attempts. I figure at this point I'm allowing myself to feel like crap for the rest of tonight then going to try my damnest to be better tomorrow.

I'm disappointed in a lot lately. Wednesday night's party on the green monster with BSSC ended up being rained into the Absolut Clubhouse, where everyone was cliquey and not friendly. Kelly and I ended up chatting and having dinner with these two boys who ended up being 23 and 24. Fail. I felt like it was a wasted night by the end, but I know I can't really think like that.

Thursday night I got really upset about not being in a fantasy league. Then Joe saved my life by suggesting I join a public league. Not as fun as craptalking with people you know, but at least its something. I was really devastated and hope I can get into it next week.

Went on the white water rafting trip up on the Kennebec in Maine this weekend with Kelly. I think we were both a little disappointed in the trip overall. We didn't expect the cabins to not have electricity. We expected free beer but it was gone by the time we arrived at 10:30. We expected people to be friendlier and more festive overall, though we did find people to hang out with both nights. I was kind of pissed though on Friday because I met this guy Ben who ended up dancing with me in the moonlight, then we kissed, then I asked if he had a girlfriend and he said yes. What a scumbag! It's things like this that really put me off dating, who does that? Ughhh.

We did end up getting adopted by the SBS kids for rafting and by another group for some campfire drinking, chatting and grilled cheeses. They were all pretty cool and I think both groups are going on the booze cruise this Friday, so it will be nice to know a bunch of random people. The SBS kids are really outgoing and funny, particularly Jodie and Dan. The other group was just chill, our initiation seemed to be beating Matt the car-accident prone lawyer and Pidge the IT guy. Tony the engineer lives nearby so maybe I'll see him at Shaws. Another odd thing was another Ben ("good Ben") that we sat with at lunch lives like across the street from me. Maybe I'll see him at Shaws too. It's funny to drive all that way to hang out with people who live so close to you here.

We decided we'll go again next year, now that we know what to expect and in the next year will have more people that we know because the rafting part was great! Tips for next time: take a half day Friday, bring flashlights/lanterns, bring a camping chair, bring super warm clothes, have a fire, bring more beer than you think you would need, be more comfortable.

Time to stop having expectations, stop being disappointed and stop thinking so much!

SNAP OUT OF IT.
