March 10 Road Trip
Since my last post, i've lost my job. it sucks; but the restaurant went bankrupt, so whatever. Anyway, my brother and his roommate decided to hire me to clean their apartment. It took me forever to get a hold of them yesterday, and my cleaning commenced around 3pm *sigh*. I washed most of their dishes, got rid of a bunch of garbage, and cleaned their bathroom before leaving, and promising to return this morning to finish the job.
So I get a message this morning from Tash:
ROAD TRIP TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT CLEANING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been a recent Saturday ritual for Ducky (tasha's "baby"), Angel, Tash and myself to pile in the car and well, like stated, go on a little road trip. Last week we ended up going through Bras d'Or, Big Bras d'Or, over the mountain, turning around in Englishtown, and then going for dinner in Sydney.
Tasha told me that today's trip was to Margaree. *yay* maybe I'd even get to see Marilyn for a minute (a woman i know through Cursillo). I worked things out with Brent and Garrie Dale so that I could get their place clean, go on the road trip, and still be back with time enough to get ready for tonight.
The Plan:
10am- start cleaning at Brent's; 11:30- Tash, Ducky and Angel pick me up and we go get Marcie; 4pm return to Brent's and finish cleaning; home by 7:30 so i can shower before ppl arrive at 8- get ready while they're here.
After we're all in the car we make out Tim's run- they gave us 4 coffee instead of 1 coffee and three tea.. *sigh* reserve Tim's is terrible for screw ups. so i go to the one in the mall (where we had to stop anyway) tell them i was "just through" (little did they know i mean the drive-thru down the road) and asked them to fix it. they happily obliged, appologized, and I told them not to worry about it. I mean after all, it wasn't their fault! lol.
Back in the car after tea and memory cards, Tasha starts talking about going through Eskasoni. i'm like WTF? Margaree is on the OTHER side of the island... she was telling me that Adam told her to go through Eskasoni and take a left and we'd get to margaree. and she INSISTED that this was the way we were taking. even though i told her that Margaree is on the other side of Kelly's Mtn, and up and around.... We called Adam- he laughed and asked what the hell we were talking about getting to Margaree through Eskasoni. I enojyed it. turns out he was sending us to (...) Grand Narrows i believe. LOL.
so we venture off to Grand Narrows (which circles the inlet of water that comes in/goes out of CB) we pass through Eskasoni, and are about 5 mins out of town when Ducky and I need to pee. we turn around, go back to a dingy station and pee. the whole time we were there, Duck was saying "Ducky, it smells in here... what is that smell ducky? i don't like it! it smells funny in here" Being a three year old, she has no concept of "shutting up" until we get out of there. since it was the only place to pee, i did for her what my dad used to do for me at my brother's hockey games- cover the seat with tp.
after we leave there, Tash decides that we're not going back to the narrows, but let's venture to Ben Eion. along the way she sees a sign for a restaurant and decides we'll eat lunch there. it was okay. there was one old lady working there- doing everything. took a good 40mins to get our food (and we were the only ppl there) and it was medioacre at best. i had fish and chips, so did Marcie. (even though she ordered mashed) everyone agreed that the fries were okay, but the rest wasn't. except ducky, who didn't touch her fish(can't say i blame her), only ate her onion rings and a few fries from her new best friend "Margaree" (Marcie).
so we're in the NSLC parking lot in the Bay at roughly 4pm. I'm not too worried cause my bro only lives about a 45 second drive away. i call him- noone's home; i call his cell- it's off. so i call his house again, and leave him a message of the chorus from "wake me up before you go-go" which was playing at the time. i'm hoping he'll be thrown off by it :)
so here i am,... it's 6:10; we didn't make it to Margaree, tho i will be with "Margaree" tonight along with the rest of the girls at the Jack -n- Jill and Herman's; my brother's appt still isn't clean- it's a hundred times better than what it was. but it's still not where i'd like it to be- esp where i'm being paid for the job.
OK, well i'm off to start getting ready; maybey i'll even be finished before the girls come over :O. You never know. Hope to see y'all out at Herman's tonight!!
