Today was a good day, mainly because I got free stuff. This morning as I walked into Mudd, aka my second home (the engineering building in which I currently have 3 classes) some guy asked me if I was interested in a Morgan Stanley internship. Seeing cookies and coffee mugs I said, "of course." So I got a mug (and a cookie!). Then tonight I went to a Women in Engineering event at Google. And many of you possibly already know that last time I went to a google event I got post its, pens, a t-shirt and then I won the raffle and got a speaker!
Then tonight I went to the thingy and it was cool cause I got to see some of the google office, see a talk, meet some people, eat some damn good food and get more free stuff. A sweet ass notebook, another shirt, another pen and a renewed outlook on life. Plus two people remembered me: one from a tech talk sometime in October and a guy I got arrested with. So two people at Google know me, that's cool.
But it's cool going there cause it's people like me. Maybe a little smarter, but not necessarily like the i'm-so-hard-core-i've-been-programming-my-whole-life type of people. We'll see I guess, though I am really excited to get an internship this summer, I think it'll be not only kinda fun (engineers=sick sense of fun) but also a good opportunity for me to see what I'm interested in. I really like my spoken language processing class, language + computer science = an interesting field that has a lot of potential and can't really be outsourced, so I'm feeling like it could be something I could really do. Anywho, that's all.
