Oh yeah, so another reason this crazy month has kind of come to a close- besides the end of midterms has to do with the fact that I got arraigned today. It was actually pretty cool and I got to say "screw you" to the man (again) by wearing flip flops to court. But it was so interesting- I love watching real legal stuff like that. Except it always makes me sad, there's these people who don't speak English and seem really confused and you just feel like they never really got a break in life. I mean pretty much everyone in my courtroom was there for some minor crime/violation, but even so, it's just sad that some people are given so many breaks in life (like myself) and other people aren't.
Anyways, I took an ACD- adjournment in contemplation of dismissal. If I don't get arrested for 6 months, the charges will be dropped and the record regarding them will be sealed. So (knock on wood) here's to hoping I don't get arrested in the next 6 months. After waiting around in the courtroom for about an hour, they called us up in groups of 5 and we went up with Gideon Orion Oliver and he said these people want ACDs (we had previously told him this, I didn't see what happened with those who pled not guilty, I left before they went up) and the judge said ok. But being the mockie nerd that I am, I thought it was pretty cool to be a part of the legal system. Can't WAIT to have jury duty.
