Yay! I'm now officially Wilderness First Aid & CPR certified. That means if you get hurt in the wild, I can help you. Isn't that great? I can perform CPR anywhere though. So if you die, it doesn't have to be in the wild and I can do CPR. But, on COBOP (bike trip) because we ride mostly on the road or near it, if anyone got seriously injured we'd either call an ambulance or take them to the hospital in the vans. So for our purposes it would have been better to learn more about soft tissue injuries and assessing how serious injuries are.
For example, when I fell off my bike last year I had 2 different kinds of injuries (3 injuries)- a little cut on my forehead, a big scrape on my knee and a hurt shoulder. The cut on my forehead was nothing really, just broken skin from the impact of the helmet (broke the helmet though), scrape on my knee got cleaned, but they had to figure out if my shoulder was really hurt or not, which they did (and it wasn't) but we didn't learn how to do that this weekend. Oh well. It'll be cool to have for the future, I might try and take some more courses like this cause it was pretty interesting.
