A public entry for ask_a_nurse visitors

Just in case anyone stops by from ask_a_nurse, I wanted to say that I have been away from LJ a lot the last year or so while I was pregnant and busy with a toddler and during the last 3 months since the birth of my daughter. I was not aware that my "neglect" of the community was causing so many problems, and I apologize. I had no idea that it would be so popular.

I never ever tried to pose as a nurse. If anyone took the time to look back to the beginning of the community, they would see that I outlined my intentions and qualifications clearly there. I am a CNA but I didn't start the community to answer questions. I started it because I wanted a place to go and ask questions of nurses and other medical professionals about simple ailments or just to ask if I should go to the doctor, especially since I'm a paranoid mom. You have no idea how many times I have been treated like an idiot for taking my children to the ER. I especially like to ask questions to get insight right away if I can't get an apt. for the doc for a day or two. I couldn't find a community like that, so I started one and asked LJ nurses to help. I tried in the beginning of the community to contact nurses who answered questions and ask them to mod. I also posted in the community asking if any nurses would mod, but nobody was interested and the people I talked to thought that the community would not be successful. Apparently, I asked the wrong people! :)

Since I have always been a periodic user/reader on LJ, and could not get ANY nurse to help moderate the community, I asked talula_fairie to help because she is on LJ every day and I figured that she could put out small fires if I wasn't around. Above that, I figured that most people on LJ are adults and can take care of themselves regarding issues in comunities, and that there would be an email to me if there were big problems to handle. I received the very first email regarding that community just 3 days ago. I wish someone HAD come to me in the first place rather than snarking all over the nursing communities about how irresponsible I am...but that's good old eljay for you, huh? ;)

I spent a lot of time on the memories in the beginning, and hoped to keep it up, but entries went fast and life went faster. That's my lame excuse.

Anyway, I am very happy to be turning the community over to trained and practicing Nurses who, I'm sure, will do a wonderful job revamping and redirecting the community. Thank you to aerostatic and the other nurse-mods for caring to do so. Also, thank you to the nurses who have stuck around for so long and had a huge part in making the community a good place to get answers. brite and fieldofshells come to mind. :)

Feel free to comment, and have a great day!
