Tonight I went to see the new X-Men movie with a friend. (Point of interest: this was not my first exposure to X-Men; I recently took Jared's suggestion to watch some of the animated series, and I like it a lot, so far.) Here's the funny anecdote related to seeing this movie--
I don't think it's spoilery to say that about 5 minutes of the film takes place in Argentina. According to the script, in a town called Villa Gesell, which is a beach resort about an hour from Buenos Aires. So they mention in the film that such-and-such is in Argentina, and the whole theater gets all excited, and doubly so because the place they mention is a very Argentine resort, and not really well-known outside the country. So everyone's murmuring something to the effect of, "Villa Gesell! Look at the Americans taking more than a cursory interest in our country!"
And then the scene changes, and at the bottom of the screen it says, "Villa Gesell, Argentina"... over a shot of Bariloche, and Lago Nahuel Huapi. Suddenly half the theater is laughing and the other half is sighing disappointedly.
I was really amused to be watching this movie in Argentina.
