Guess who's going to the rainforest?!

One of the things that holds me in constant awe of Argentina is the sheer variety of it, culturally and geographically speaking.  After two and a half months in Buenos Aires, Bariloche was a welcome respite from city life, in addition to being breathtakingly stunning in itself.  Honestly, though-- I don't think there's any other country in the world that encompasses such geographic diversity.  Atlantic coast with beaches in the east; Andes mountains in the west; glaciers in the extreme south; Patagonian steppe just north of that; then the Lake District; pampas north of the lakes; salt flats in the northwest; and rainforest in the northeast.  All in one country.  You can't make this up.

I should have liked to get to all of it-- Salta to see the salt flats, Puerto Madryn to see the whales and penguins, Calafate to walk on glaciers, Córdoba for the pampas-- but travel is both expensive and time-consuming.  If I wanted to travel every weekend until I'm done here, I could probably get to it all, but that's exhausting and I have schoolwork besides.  I am, however, going to Iguazú the first weekend in June.  And I am PUMPED.

Iguazú is the site of the Iguazú Falls, the biggest waterfall in South America, on the triple border of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay.  We're going to be (technically) in Brazil for a day!!  The national park is HUGE and did I mention it's in the rainforest?  I'm going to the RAINFOREST!  There are ocelots there, and monkeys, and toucans!  There are also ruins of Jesuit missions to the Guaraní tribes, which I really hope we're going to be able to get to.  This is going to be FANTASTIC!
