Day two of Cataclysm

Ugh...stupid cold...head so stuffy... Blarg.

Aside from drowning in snot and coughing all the time, my second day romping around in Cataclysm was very enjoyable.

I now have a level 13 worgen rogue on the Kirin Tor server. I crossed the name of one of my old TaleSpin fanfic characters, Isabella, and my main's name, Skarlette, and came up with Iskabelle. I initially wanted Iskabella, but that would make everyone assume I was a Twilight fangirl, and I'd rather disembowel myself with a rusty garden trowel than be associated with that horse flop.
Also, to continue with the TaleSpin theme, she's an engineer. I doubt I'll ever get her to a high enough level to fly a chopper, but it pays to plan ahead. ;) Female worgen look a bit odd with goggles on, though.
So yeah, even though I don't do any organized RP, I have a pirate wolf who tinkers with machinery. XD The backstory I have for her is that her family were smugglers trying to eke out a living by sneaking supplies around the Greymane wall by sea, and fencing supplies to the rebels during the civil war. (Crowley is awesome, BTW.)

I had done the worgen starting zone twice in beta, so I was already quite familiar with it. I sailed through it in two sittings. It's fun, and the story really pulls you along. Also, I have a crush on Prince Liam. *snerk*
The game directs you to Darkshore to continue questing, but I'm planning on going the Westfall and Duskwood route instead. I already have my new night elf mage, Talori, working on Darkshore, and Skarlette did all the new quests in Darkshore, Ashenvale, Stonetalon and Desolace in the last couple weeks. I did part of Westfall on the beta but quite a bit was unfinished at the time so I definitely want to go through it now.

I recreated my lovely little goblin warlock from the beta, Gimmie. She's only like level 3 now, though. I absolutely adore the goblin starting experience, which I only did once on beta, so I want to devote an entire play session to her sometime soon. Haven't decided on professions for her, or a backstory, really. But I look forward to her treating her demons like employees, threatening to fire them when they mess up, or hinting at a bonus on their nonexistent paychecks when they do well. Heehee...

Taking a break from Vashj'ir, I took a trip down to Deepholm last night. A mind-blowing coincidence happened on the way, though. Before you go, there's a little cutscene where the camera sweeps over the maelstrom before showing Thrall standing on a rock, attempting to calm the elements. Because the camera is moving in the actual game world, you can see real players running around the rock, handing in a quest to Thrall, etc.
After getting this little sneak preview, the NPC asks if you're ready to be teleported into the action. You say yes, and you get zapped to the rock you just saw. Being the dork that I am, I posed for a cool screenshot of myself and Murky right by Thrall, feeling all uber important and stuff.
At which point one my best in-game friends, Trex, started freaking out in guild chat, "OMG Skar, you'll never believe this!!!" I was like, what? Apparently he was right behind me in the quest line, so that when he viewed the cut scene, and the camera came to rest on Thrall...there was a very familiar mage and baby murloc right beside him!
ROFL! What are the odds, that I'd be posing with Thrall just at the exact moment Trex's cut scene camera was aimed at him?
So, since we were obviously at the same stage, we quested together for awhile. I dinged friendly with the Earthen Ring, and we took care of the first few rounds of quests in Deepholm. We had both done these in beta so it was pretty easy to breeze through them, although we came close to dying a few times. After he had to go to bed, I did the next few quests ("Hmm, sloshing around in liquid mercury, this can't be healthy...oh well, the XP is good!") and then returned to Vashj'ir.
I had lots of fun swimming around this absolutely gorgeous reef/canyon, fighting deep-sea murlocs, crabs, and fish with big pointy-teeth. I did die once, to an elite eel that you're supposed to weaken with a bomb before fighting. Well, nobody told me the bomb would damage me, too! Oops. After getting pretty much one-shot, I was careful the second time and lived, barely. Thank goodness for Mirror Images.

I also tried my hand at archaeology for the first time. It was a little confusing at first but I quickly got the hang of it. I went from Stormwind over to Duskwood, then Stranglethorn, Blasted Lands, Swamp of Sorrows, Burning Steppes, Wetlands, Arathi, Hinterlands, Hillsbrad, and EPL. I never found anything interesting, though, just the basic "you gain two fragments of a troll artifact" message. That was kind of disappointing. I thought I'd find fun little gray flavor items like a Gurubashi Back Scratcher or something. Oh well, it was still something new to do.
