The hrududu won
Our lapine patient did not make it through the night. When I got up to check on him this morning it was obvious the Black Rabbit of Inle had visited.
All Watership Down references aside, I of course feel bad about it but well, it's not like it was a pet. I'm not in tears, just rather bummed. Nature can be a bitch sometimes...and yet it was most likely a car (hrududu, in Lapine) that caused this, and cars aren't exactly part of nature.
"All the world will be your enemy, Prince of a Thousand Enemies, and if they catch you they will kill you. But first, they must catch you!" Alas, Frith did not bless El-ahrairah with the speed and fortitude to outwit a hrududu.
Sigh...looks like it's about time for my quasi-annual re-read of that book...
