So because I can't stand having an empty tank around, and I'd been grieving Pansy's loss for at least a week before she finally expired, and because it was the Labor Day holiday so my parents were both around to go shopping with me...I got a new betta.
He's a very small/young crowntail with a pale pinkish-white body and white, light purple/blue fins, with some red on his underside fins. Very pretty and cute. He has been dubbed Felix (partly because of the hurricane bearing down on Central America right now, partly for the irony of giving a name to a fish that's often used for cats, and partly because of what it means in Latin, which describes any fish that ends up at my house, heehee.)
After much exploration of his new home he seems to have relaxed and claimed it as his own. He definitely likes the cave. I don't think he's discovered the little bridge yet.
He didn't understand the food thing at suppertime but I know at PetCo they're only fed once a day and he'd already had food today so he wasn't expecting more. I think by tomorrow he'll be on the same page as I am with the eating business. ;)
So hopefully little Felix will be with me for a good year or more. He will, of course, have the best of everything a betta could ever want. All he has to do is stay healthy, pretty and friendly. A fair tradeoff, I think. ;)
