Been awhile since I posted anything about non-fandom junk.
The 'rents and I went to Borders for awhile this afternoon. I got a couple of Ranma 1/2 manga and an awesome magazine about the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie that opens next week--squee! We brought home pizza, then brought Nama over to watch some really old movie. I wasn't too interested in it so I websurfed instead.
I've sort of taken this week off of raiding and obsessing over Warcraft. I did Scholomance with Skarlette on like Tuesday, I think. Otherwise I've somewhat limited my playtime and I haven't been raiding. I'll get back to it next week but I needed a break. Everything in moderation. ;) I did work on my warlock, Obsidia, for awhile, though. Got her about halfway through level 37. I love questing in Stranglethorn Vale. ^_^
Speaking of WoW, I uploaded dozens of new screenshots to my
galleries a few days ago. I think pretty much everyone except Lawyn and Tinneleva got updates. Of special note are new subgalleries for Skarlette and the Scourge Invasion event, and a graphics glitch that made her "fall through" Stormwind. o_0 New pics in almost all of Skarlette's other subgalleries, as well. New adventures for Eitak and Obsidia, some fun with Ariadnie, and...Selldorine stumbles across two players cybering in Elwynn? What in the world? Heh, interesting stuff, anyway. ;)
I fixed our DVD player! It's a pretty new one but for some reason all of a sudden the colors got screwed up so the people had blue skin and yellow eyes. o_0 I have no idea how that happened, but I moved around some of the plugs in the back until they turned red, then green, then gray, and finally I switched enough of them around that the colors turned normal. Yay!
The big news today, however, is that Benny met Minnie! Shortly after supper I netted Minnie out of the 10-gallon quarantine tank and plopped her in with Benny in the 37-gallon tank by the dining room table. She's so tiny next to him! She's not that small a fish by pet store standards, but he's four times her size! LOL!
At first she was a little scared of this strange orange behemoth, and I didn't blame her! ;) But she quickly got braver and explored the tank.
Benny was a bit startled at first and didn't quite know what to make of the situation but then it dawned on him that, "Hey! There's another fish in here!" He took a great interest in Minnie, and they immediately got down to bonding. They swam around each other, sniffing and nudging each other, following each other around, and just getting acquainted. So cool to watch!
After awhile they settled down in the front-right corner to rest, with Minnie tucked partly under Benny's tail, with her chin on his flipper. She was just snuggled in so close it was like she was glued to him! And he didn't seem to mind one bit! ^_^
There was some jostling and nose-poking as they sorted out the pecking order, although little Minnie was more aggressive for the most part--so funny, considering the size disparity! Suppertime was absolutely hilarious, the way they zipped around and competed for food. Lots of vigor and enthusiasm from both of them, which was great to see since Benny's been fairly subdued by himself. Minnie tried to chase huge Benny out of the way but he was like, "Yeah, right." Once or twice he allowed himself to be shooed away, but I think he was just humoring her. ;)
They really seem to have settled in well. They're together a lot, but not every second, so they both have their own space and no one's being a pest. I haven't seen any fin nipping at all, which is very good considering how badly poor Minnie's tail got chewed up in the store.
It'll be very interesting to see how they end up sleeping. I imagine Benny will pick a spot and she'll park next to him. I've only seen her sleeping twice since I got her; she's so darn hyper that it's a feat to catch her at rest! ;)
She's a bit less insane now that she has so much room to swoop and glide, and another fish to hold her attention. I expected that. Although a 10-gallon tank is adequate to sustain a single goldfish, it's still cramped and not all that comfortable. It's fine as a temporary quarantine measure, but a nice roomy tank with a bubble curtain, gravel, and lots of plants is a home. ^_^ (Although Minnie seems to shy away from the bubble curtain so far. I got a new air pump last month and the bubbles come with a fair amount of force, so I think her small self might not quite be able to handle the current yet. She enjoyed the small bubblestone in her quarantine tank, however, so she'll grow into the big bubbler.) ;)
Anyway, lots of warm fuzzies, grins and laughs as we watched the fishie soap opera unfold tonight. They both have to adjust, of course, but I think they're going to get along very well. Minnie's happy to have more room and a playmate, and Benny's happy to have a tankmate again. He's definitely been lonely since we lost Fergie. Here's to many years of a Benny/Minnie tank! ^_^
