ONY PWNED!
This is one of those entries that's just about Warcraft junk, so everyone else can skip it. ;)
So all I had to do in order to get keyed for Onyxia was to kill General Drakkisath in UBRS and take his blood to the matron in the blue dragon cave in Winterspring. I logged on this afternoon and my guild was doing UBRS. One of the others volunteered to leave when they got to the general so I could complete the quest, which was really nice. I hopped in for the last couple of trash mobs and then took on Drakk for the umpteenth time. (Well, okay, maybe like the sixth time. Whatever.)
Killed him, got the blood, ported to Darnassus, flew to Everlook, rode south, used mana shield and blink to get almost to the teleport circle in the cave before I died to the many elite dragons, rezzed, ported to the matron, got my amulet, hearthed to Gadgetzan, flew to Theramore, rode to the Dragonmurk, and *gasp for air* I was at Onyxia's Lair! :D
Most but by no means all of the people in the raid (I think we had 36, not a full 40) had killed Onyxia before, although our guild has only been getting regular runs to her lair together for a month or so, I think. I wasn't the only first-timer, anyway.
We wiped twice, but the third time was the charm! I survived until the end of the fight, amazingly enough, and saw the big old purple black dragon go ker-thump! There was much cheering and wooting. ;)
A couple of hunter items dropped (no, really, they actually were labeled as such) ;) plus the priest headpiece, a cloak that was more for melee types, a backpack, and, of course, Onyxia's head.
I really couldn't use any of the other stuff, except for the backpack, so when the roll came up for Ony's head I joined in. The first person to roll got a 99. Then the rest of us went, and four people--including me!--got 100s. o_0 So the four of us rolled again, and I won with a 78! Wow. Just...wow!!! My first time in Onyxia's Lair and we not only kill her on the third try, I won the head! O_O
I took the head to Stormwind to hand it in, and got an AWESOME epic signet ring, about five and a half gold, and lots of brownnosing from the NPCs. Unfortunately there was some sort of bug, however, because the Dragonslayer buff was never announced. Boooo! I didn't get to have my name yelled across the city as the hero of Azeroth, and the lovely buff go out to everyone in Stormwind. Dangit!
I can't complain too much, though, because everything else was incredible! :D
And now I really, really, really have to get to bed. >_<
But I just had to squee over my victory. ^_^ First time we killed Hakkar, I won his heart and got an epic trinket. First time I was along to kill Onyxia, I won her head and got an epic ring. My luck is insane! XD
