Irreverent thoughts

I'm not Catholic. I don't agree with the Pope's politics and we have differences of opinion on theological matters simply because I'm a Protestant, etc. I'm sure he's a very nice man and his heart is in the right place. I know a lot of Catholics are greatly saddened that his passing seems so imminent. I've been watching coverage on CNN and enjoying the ornate architecture of the Vatican and all that jazz. It's a solemn occasion, and not something that's ever happened before in my lifetime.

But.

I keep thinking about Dan Brown's Angels and Demons and kind of smiling to myself. Dang, that was a good book... I imagine this Conclave will be significantly less eventful and harrowing than the one in Brown's novel. I don't want to give any spoilers for the book, but it's very exciting and interesting. So many twists and turns! I wonder who John Paul II's camerlengo is...
