A trio of random, amusing things...

Amusing Thing The First:

You know those Aflac commercials with the duck? Ever watched one with closed captioning on? At least in one version of the commercial, the last line of closed captioning is:
(duck grunts)
Indicating, of course, a duck grunting. o_0 Which is amusing enough as it is.
Cut to earlier this evening. We had the Olympics on with the sound muted in case something interested happened. As the current sport du jour was guys swimming back and forth in straight lines, we just had it muted. Then there was a commercial break. And the Aflac spot. And then the program came back. The closed captioning was stuck. So for like ten minutes there was Olympic swim races going on with the only caption being, (duck grunts)! LMAO!!!!

Amusing Thing the Second:

Another commercial-related funny incident happened when I happened to walk by the bedroom, where Mom was watching CNN. One of those annoying "sell your timeshare or campground membership for cash!" commercials was one. I stuck my head in the door and said, "Derr, yeah, I gots a timeshare in Punta Gorda I'd like to sell...roof not included..." XD I know, I know, horribly tacky and insensitive. Just slipped out. Mom got a really good laugh out of it, though. *pinky smirk*

Amusing Thing the Third:

Squirrel Vs. Crows! Film at eleven!
While I was at work on Saturday, going through the travel info files for 1.5 hours or so, I took a moment to rest my eyes by looking out the window behind me. One story below me is some lovely green space and then a row of trees and a small dike, and then the river. Picturesque, right? Until...duh duh DUH! *insert ominous music here* THE CROWS ATTACKED!
Four of those huge crows that routinely carry off Kindergarteners for snacks were causing quite a ruckus out there. I looked more closely and realized they were having a faceoff with a squirrel! Mr. Squirrel was puffed up with his tail aloft, and standing on tip-paw to make himself (herself?) look as large as possible. The crows were circling around, hopping and fluttering, and the poor squirrel was standing his ground. He even charged at one of the crows, and the chicken crow took off like a shot! LOL! Coward. Eventually the crows flew away and the squirrel went into the trees. One of the crows was carrying a bit of litter that was made of shiny foil. Perhaps they were fighting over ownership of The Shiny? Very entertaining, regardless.
