Does anyone have a betta?
neverwench, you got one awhile back, didn't you?
I was not-all-that-seriously toying with the idea of getting one for my new, bigger bedroom. I have a five-gallon tank with a filter and a stand (leftover from when Mellie, Addy and Tony were babies.) All I'd need would be the betta, some food, and a small heater.
I understand they're much cleaner and more low-maintenance than goldfish are. Not that I don't adore my goldies, you understand. ;) I'm just curious about what the fuss is with bettas. If they're really that easy to take care of it might be a fun addition to my room. On the other hand, I'm not in my room all that much, so it might not be fair to the fishie to have him cooped up in there all the time.
I'm planning on taking my lava lamp out of storage and setting it up in my room, so if I'm looking for something vaguely pretty and interesting to watch I should probably just go with that. I don't have to feed, clean or medicate a lamp! LOL!
Still, I've heard bettas can be fun. I just don't know. I had thought about getting one when Grandma was laid up at home all those months, since she couldn't get downstairs to see the goldfish. I thought it might be fun to have one in her room. That was way back when she was still relatively coherent and alert and stuff. I never did get around to it, and as things deteriorated it wasn't really a good idea. But I'm thinking, maybe now?
So...thoughts? Anyone have bettas and want to share what it's like having one?
