Neo who?
Dad and I watched The Matrix tonight on TV. He had seen the second movie in the trilogy, but not the first. o_0 I had seen the first one a couple years ago, but not the second one. This viewing made much more sense for both of us. LOL! In fact, I really really enjoyed it this time, while the first time was more like, "Um, okay, received. I guess I liked it. Whatever. Keanu is cute." Now I can't wait to rent the second one and then go out and see the third one. ^_^; I'm a bit behind the times, what can I say?
But get this... In one of the first scenes something like "Hi Neo" is visible on his computer screen, and a bit later Trinity meets him in the nightclub/bar/thingie and calls him that. Dad turns to me and says, "Oh, so his name is NEO!"
Me: Uh...yeah...
Him: I thought it was Neil.
Me: *laughs hysterically*
He watched the entire second movie and has lived in this media-saturated society of ours for all this time, and he honestly thought the hero of The Matrix is named Neil.

I find this endlessly amusing. ^_^
To be fair, I also made a silly observation, although it wasn't born of idiocy--more like a really warped sense of humor. The way Agent Smith hops around from one body/avatar to another reminded me of SimAnt. If you've ever played that game, you can select any ant in the colony to be your POV ant, and you can skip around to any other insect whenever you want to. It's really remarkably similar to Smith's modus operadni. katarina42 already gave me a well-deserved mocking for this weird observation. LOL!
I'm going to go giggle over Smith/Elrond crossover pics now... ;)
