It's been hot, humid, muggy and stormy for like two days now, and it's really getting on my nerves. I should just count myself lucky that we didn't get the horrible weather they got out in Minnesota. Watched WCCO news at noon today and saw all the flooding, tornadoes, straight-line winds and other damage they had around the Twin Cities yesterday. We didn't get any severe weather here, but it's rumbled enough the last two nights to keep waking me up.
At least last night I more or less slept through the night. Night before last I hardly slept at all. Between the thunder, being over-tired, and the fact that my grandma kept getting up so I worried about her running into trouble and didn't dare go back to sleep while I heard her up... Yeah. Not conducive to sleeping. :-p
Yesterday evening we lost power for just over an hour. Not from a storm, apparently the system just got overloaded from everyone running their A/C and fans all day. We had to get grandma's portable oxygen hooked up since that doesn't require power. I was also worried since the fishie's filter and aeration went off, but my hardly little carp came through just fine. (Okay, so they're not little. But whatever.) ;) The worst thing was being without A/C and fans. Mom called the energy company's hotline and the recording said it would be four hours before we'd get our power restored. At least it ended up being only around 1.25 hours.
I'm re-reading the Magic Knight Rayearth manga for, oh, I don't know, maybe the fourth time. Not as cool as Sailor Moon, but still fun. Also the only other manga series I own in its entirety. :-p I haven't bitched about how expensive manga are in awhile, so here goes a mini-rant again. GEEZ, manga are expensive! Ten bucks a volume! It's ridiculous! When series are only six volumes long, like Rayearth, it's not that bad. But then you get something like Peach Girl or Cardcaptor Sakura--both series I enjoy--that's more than a dozen volumes long, it gets prohibitively expensive. I was looking at Inu Yasha at Borders the other day, since some people on my friends list have mentioned how cool it is. It does look good, but to buy the whole series would be like $150! 0_o That's in-frikkin'-sane! >_< The library has a few manga, but not many. They don't have all the Sailor Moon ones (not that I care because I have them all in my own collection, both in English and Japanese thank you very much.) They have some Peach Girl, Dragon Ball Z :-p and Parasyte :-p and a few Cardcaptors ones, but that's about it. And even the ones they do have, they don't have the entire series. Grr...
Moving on...I used
this website to figure out how old my grandma/aunt's cat is. (She used to belong to my grandma but when she moved in with us and my dad was allergic to cats my aunt adopted her instead.) Anyway, she's 22 in actual years, which means if she was a human she'd be 154 years old! 0_o Duuuuuude. That's an OLD cat.
Speaking of my aunt, she had a frog in her bathtub this morning. Just a small one, and she successfully trapped in a Tupperware and let it go outside, but it freaked her out. And the aforementioned ancient cat just watched the silly thing hopping around the bathroom, bobbing her head as she did so. LOL!
I lead a very bizarre life, what can I say? ;)
Gingivitis? LOL! Sure, I don't floss, but gee... 0_o
