So much happened and it was all so much fun!
Warning: Lots of writing about my adventures ahead XD
All the best days totally start at 6:30 am. Okay, so that's just me. Either way! The travel time was totally worth it all!
So first things first, I got to doll myself up for the day. Typically I do not care a lick for my appearance other than the hellspawn that are zits, but when I get to do my hair and make up and wear pretty clothes, I go all out. This makes for a happy Katie already. (I also got to use my hair straightener which I have missed dearly).
So, then I was pretty and ready to go, I walked in the sun (Oh gods how I've missed that great ball of warmth in the sky!) and I made my way ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way to the other side of the city for the free anime convention. Lucky me, I've gotten good at deducing con-goers in a crowd. I'm totally the Sherlock of animes ;P. Basically I spotted a group of people traveling with a suitcase and small child to not the airport or train station, so when we got off the bus, I was able to ask them where the con was, and made it there safely ^w^. Then I promptly ditched that group when I found friends of mine XD Aren't I nice?
Best thing about cosplayers is how warm and friendly so many of them are. So I traveled around from table to table, making new friends and spotting old. Kept going back to Finland and Fem!Loki though, because this is me we're talking about. ;D
OH! BEFORE I TELL MY FUNNY STORY I MUST TELL OF MY EPIC MEETING!
Kay! So before I was a Hetalia fan, I was a Hitman Reborn fan. Before that, and for the longest time, I was a Kingdom Hearts fan! There's a famous artist on deviantart well known for her AkuRoku art named nijuuni...which I just realised means 22...okay! ANYWAY! TOTALLY FORGOT SHE LIVES HERE! I MET HER IN PERSON! 8D My stalker fangirl heart was SOOOOOOOO happy! I kinda walked up to the table and was like "Hey...this looks famili-OHMAHGAWDISTALKYOUONDA!" She was most amused to hear about my fangirling over her work. SO of course I bought her gumball heartless picture and had her autograph it for me X3 Made me super happy, and now it's on my whiteboard...if my room mate ruins it to write down CELLPHONE again...I'll end her...
Okay, so that was my super fangirl moment of the day.
Anyhoo! Onto funny story that may require some context. Basically, I had planned my Saturday to be crazy busy, because I could, and because it's summer, and the days are long enough now to get away with that. So I was chatting with Finland while Lust and Rin got food (XD) and as I mentioned before, I'm all dolled up; make up on, hair pretty, and a skirt, and I mention that I have to leave around 12:30 for tea (the next event I was going to with my school's tea club). This greatly confused her because as members of the cosplay community, that sentence is heard as "I have to leave around 12:30 for T" as in testosterone injections XD Pretty sure if I did suddenly tell people I was male and wanted to appear such as well, they'd be cool with it, but it's a very conflicting image when I'm wearing a skirt. So yeah, that was good for a short laugh.
Then there was Loki time. Loki had the world's smallest possible version of the spear thing and it was hilarious taking photos of her with it XD Better yet, when I asked for a hug, she demanded I kneel first XD Made me laugh, and I totally did too. But hey, I got hugs and photos for it ;P
Sooo, then to my heart's sadness I had to leave for tea and cake. Originally the plan was tea flavoured cheesecake since that's what the store specialises in, but they were all out. Before that though, I actually met my friend Ellu on the bus there XD I had invited her, so I might have expected it, but it was still an awesome surprise running into her before I actually got there. She's my penpal from Italy who's in Canada for 3 months, and we try to go on adventures together. Apparently she likes Alberta better from her brief time there in Banff. Whatevs, she came back here so she must love us ;P So we got there, and we were the first to arrive. As I said, they were out of the cheesecake we were expecting, so we had to make due with the giant delicious honey toast box. IT WAS MASSIVE! Even splitting it (messily) with our club's president, was painful for my stomach. So worth it though, although I think next time I go I'll go for the parfait or cheesecake to save myself the mess XD I think it has honestly been one of the most successful tea club events this summer, and I'm very happy for it. We also got drinks, aaaaaaaaaaaand they were massive. Seriously, my bubble tea was in, like, one of those giant glass mugs you imagine German beer in. Let's say it's about 7 inches high and 3-4 inches in diameter? Yeah, it was big! AND DELICIOUS~ We hung around, we ate, we chatted, we went down the block to look at cheap tea cups, and apparently cheaper shoes XP Honestly, Sally Ann must be the only place where you can get a cute pair of shoes for less than a tea cup and saucer. Sadly, yet again I had to ditch the group early because THEN I had to go meet my friend to go to our friend's birthday party!
This was about the only point where there was a hitch in the day, and I'm still not sure what the hell happened, but I shall tell of the good news first.
So I met up with my friend, and we made our way BACK the way I had come before to get from the con to the tea club XD Wo and behold there was even MORE food! Now, I'm not Christian, but I have no problem hanging around people who are. Turned out that's what most of this group was about (makes sense since the birthday boy is a minister or some equivalent). We chilled out, we ate food, I finally met the mystery girlfriend-now fiancee that he would talk about all the time at our weekly potlucks. Then came the cake~ No one wanted the last slice, and it was massive, and I can unhinge my jaw a little XD Add all those together and I got to eat it. I did not feel bad rejecting the cream puffs when they finally came by afterwards XD So I made a lot of new friends that day. Got to play with one of the guy's pretty cameras. Pretty cameras make me jealous. Pretty cameras with owners who only use it as one would use a typical point and shoot make me see green. Still, the guy seemed to have some good shots, and I can't be reasonably upset for owning something that I want, but have to save up my money for. I'll get there someday!
So came the end to my super fun day when I decided to leave early, because I had to be up early the next day for work, and because I was getting cold (picnicking outside will do that when you're in a tank top and skirt). I bussed home, and made my own route there since I had little clue where I actually was.
Noooooooow, I feel kind of bad gossiping, but at the same time, I need to vent a little. Feel free to ignore this part if you don't want to hear me whine, but I need to get this conflict off my chest.
As well as the friend who picked me up, our other "friend" and room mate was actually supposed to come as well. She was going to be coming straight from work, and the friend who picked me up (Let's call her L to make my life easier) had written her some instructions the night before on how to get there. Now, I'm not sure EXACTLY what happened, since I was just reading the texts on L's smart phone (she showed them to me >>) but from what I understand, what was supposed to be a 4 on the paper looked like a 44 somehow (still haven't seen the paper so I couldn't tell you) and it doesn't run on the weekends, so this frustrated D (I believe I've spoken of her here before), and she tried calling L's cellphone. She didn't hear that though or the following 2 texts, and she didn't get any of the messages until the third that said "YOU'RE IGNORING ME AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE I'M GOING, I'M GOING HOME." D has a temper, so it's usually best to confront things right away (not that I ever do). Plus we wanted her to be at the party and wish our friend a happy birthday and have a good evening. So L started to text her back and explained that she needed to take the 4 and tried explaining how to get there. Text wasn't working efficiently for relaying the information, so she called D instead, and tried to calmly explain the best routes for her to get there. D wanted us to come back and pick her up. We were 10 minutes away at this point, and like I said, this end of town is pretty far away from EVERYTHING, so for us to hop off our bus, hop on one going back, find her, and then go all the way back would have been ridiculous when L was telling her quite simply what she needed to do to get there. Apparently there were tears and swearing on D's part and she hung up on L. I only know this because L told me, otherwise you'd never guess it by how calm L was on the phone. We both agreed that it was unfair of D to expect us to come to her every beck and call and to bend to her every will whenever she's upset. The week she had 2 midterms, a paper and a final, I kind of understood when she asked me to cover a couple of her chores, I was upset, but I understood. This. I still don't understand what set her off. Later that night I come home, super cheerful from one of the best days I've had in a long time, so of course this means I'm chirping out what little French I know when I come in the door. No response and a closed door at her end of the hall, made for a very wary Katie. A sticky note on the oven that says "Do your own fucking dishes" makes for a pissed off Katie. Especially since her own dishes weren't done, so I felt insulted that she should write me an angry note like that. It was especially bad in my mind since she had cooked the night before, and then I had planned to do them when I had time late Saturday or early Sunday knowing how busy my weekend was. So to come home to that, I was actually really upset. Then I go on facebook and find her status as "If you didn't want me to come you should have told me." (She tends to write this a lot when she decides to ditch things...actually, yeah I think she was writing it weekly at one point even though it was always her choice to leave...)
Yes D. We totally mean we don't want you to join the party when we attempt to text you to tell you how to get there and then call you with instructions only to be hung up on. Is my inner psycho-bitch showing? (Just so people are certain I was being sarcastic with the above sentence). Now, I rarely get offended for myself, but for other people, I am all over being offended on their behalf. I felt this was a direct attack on L, and honestly, there's a reason I put quotes around the word friend before. I can't consider D one anymore. This kind of behaviour, attitude and treatment of other people is typical of her, and it happens way too often. I actually realised during one of my classes last year, that I was essentially in an "Abusive relationship" with her. Sure it was abusive friendship, but it's too much of a mental and emotional toll on me to still consider her a friend. I'm pretty sure this weekend is the straw that broke the camel's back, and when she comes back (she ran home yesterday sometime while I was at work) I'm going to have to confront her. I'm not good with confrontation, and I'm even worse with emotions which I'm sure there will be plenty of, but that girl needs to learn to grow up and ignoring her temper tantrums like I do with children isn't going to work anymore.
*deep inhale*
Okay I think I'm good now.
I still had a wicked fun time on Saturday, and I refuse to let this one bump ruin all the fun I had.
