Monday before Christmas I was caught out in the blizzard and had to abandon my car overnight - caught the last train to Maidenhead but it broke down of frozen points at Bourne End and I was stuck MILES away from home. I mean, honestly, frozen bloody points. Surely some enterprising

You'll forgive me if, living at 8,000 ft (2700 m), Brit snow worries seem... well... Most winters there are days we can't get out of the house. But the snowfall is more in the 1/2-1m level. Twice in 15 years, it's been so high that drifts were up to my chest, about 5 feet (1 1/3 m). I recall one Brit saying that to paralyze England, you didn't need a nuclear attack, just a 3 inch snowfall.

Jane & I are doing well. We started camping a bit more, again, last fall, and are looking forward to more of it this spring. We're so lucky to have my stepdaughter staying iwth us, but we also need time, even extended time by ourselves.

I've several presentations I'm doing, or likely doing over the next few months that'll keep me too busy, along with work. This Monday, I'm meeting w/ someone downtown, as I do monthly -- he teaches philosophy at the local college and has an interest in philosophical psychology -- and those days, for the past year or so, I drop Jane off at a nearby bookstore/coffeeshop, and she spends a bit of time on her own. Just before Christmas, we hiked at a local National Monument, hiking about 3.5 miles, going up to about 9000 ft (just under 3000m). First time she's done that trail since she fell. So recovery continues, though with her near-blindness, both reading & driving are not possible, which I something she's still coming to terms with. Understandably.

Overall, we're pretty lucky. I'm so glad that I still have Jane, and that she's fought so hard to come back to us.
