Snow, Snow, Beautiful Snow

So I'm back over here in the States. Arrived on Monday (Martin Luther King day) at 11.40. Unfortunately I had ommitted to explain specifically to my nutcase flibbertigibbet daughter that I was using the 24 hour clock and arriving a.m. and not p.m.

After coming through customs by about 12.30 I sat and waited, thinking she'd been a bit delayed by the baby needing attention or something. By half past one I began to fret something had happened to her and at 2 p.m. I finally decided to ring her house and see where the hell she was.

Conversation went:

Me: Hello.
Her: Hi Mum - what time are you leaving for the airport?
Me: What? What? I'm AT the bloody airport you fuckwit! When are YOU leaving to pick me up?
Her: What? What do you mean? What airport are you at?
Me: Newark. I've been waiting for you for nearly two hours.
Her: Oh my God! I thought you were arriving late tonight. Sorry Mum. I'll leave now.
Me: (As I heard the receiver bang down) DRIVE CAREFULLY!

She only took forty mintues to get to me, bless her and was distraught at the mistake. Quite funny really, once we sorted it out.

It was minus fifteen degrees this morning! Christ. I knew I should have brought a coat. Thank God for central heating. It's lovely to be back and to see so much snow. Quite a change for me.
