✖ ✖ ✖ Momocon 2008 Con Report! ✖ ✖ ✖
So there was this con called Momocon. It's pretty small and I didn't bother to enter the contest and at one point, we were all trapped inside as a tornado warning swept across Atlanta, but hey, I don't judge, and I still had a pretty good time seeing friends I wouldn't get to see otherwise. Not to mention I got to do some of my favorite things which was terrible karaoke (in the form of Rock Band), staying with Mary and John at Ashley and Daniel's, and cosplaying with friends (especially Nana with Mer <3).
So on Friday I drove to Columbus (this time a little more successfully than the last), but I was definitely a few hours later than planned... this worked out for the best however, because if we HAD left for Atlanta on time, we would have become good friends with the tornado that ripped through the city a few hours before we drove through it! :D
My plan was to finish Yoko and debut her a little earlier than planned at Momocon (if I could finish her), but despite all my efforts, I eventually gave up (which was the right choice) and decided to wear my back-up, Chidori, as my mom had paid $10 to ship it to me from home, anyway. XD Stupid me forgot the best part of the costume, though (the sneakers!), so I was kind of upset. This combined with the fact that I had no reference picture and it's a boring school uniform led to the very wise decision to not enter the costume contest. :) Not long after we got there, Mary and Silas wandered off to do the LONGEST PHOTOSHOOT EVAR and Ashley and I just kinda walked around and chilled. The first familiar faces we saw were Livvy and Adam in their TOTES adorable cheerleader Haruhi and Kyon!

We also found out that like, 5 minutes after getting there, the dealer's room was temporarily closed off and shut down because some person has fainted inside and had to be carried out on a stretcher by paramedics into an ambulance. XD HAZUKASHII~ At some point during our chatting with Livvy, I stole her pom-poms and did the Lucky Star dance. It's at the tail end of her Momocon vlog at around 8:30 and then I start again at
9:15 and am made o' fail.
Eventually, Mer (dragging Matt... in character! ;D) and Joie got there, so Ashley joined their cute little Zero no Tsukaima group. We hit up the dealer's room and while there, I finally found a seller selling Nana rings. They were $15, so I said to him, "If I buy this wearing Nana tomorrow, will you sell it to me for $10?" and the seller agreed. XDDD I was so meant to be Jewish, you guys. If a chance to haggle exists, I MUST TAKE IT. X3
Then, right as the con was in full swing, everyone started to get shuffled inside. I looked at the glass doors- the weather was fine. A little overcast, but nothing to worry about. I turn my head. A few seconds later, I look back outside- TORRENTIAL RAIN. I was all "WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN???" Turns out that thar was some TORNADERR WEATHER!! Thus the herding. Everyone sat around laughing about how we were all doomed to die at an anime con (okay, so it wasn't really THAT dramatic- more like people complaining about being crammed into an area FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH OTAKU), then a few minutes later, the warning was lifted, the rain stopped, and we wandered back outside. Silas got pictures of everyone, but I look pretty scary in them- both intentionally and non-intentionally- so I don't have many to post.

I HATE photos of people flipping off the camera man (thus my "forced to do this" expression), but I'm posting it because only Ashley could flip someone off and still look like a total sweetheart. XDDD

After taking pictures, we realized that we were all kind of starving and since Matt was having a cook-out, we rode to AshDan's place to get my stuff, then headed north to Woodstock for dericious grilled burgers and what not. Yummeh. I also stole alcohol and played Rock Band. Although I totally sobered up when I realized I didn't know ANY OF THE SONGS. D:< That made me ANGREH because everyone acted like I was retarded for not knowing them. EM, SORRY, GAIZ, BORN IN 1987. I know pop music from my genre- not rock from yours. :P If they made a Karaoke Revolution with just H!P music, I would PWN ALL. ...Too bad they don't. ;_; Thus, my strange ability to imitate adolescent Japanese girls is once again useless. *SIGH* I wish I had pictures from that night, but unfortunately I do not.
Sunday marked the first time that Mer and I got to debut our NANA costumes at a con and I must say, for closet cosplay, it = GREAT SUCCESS. People LOVED us. Particularly Japanese girls. I found a few pictures from around the con, but I tended to look either like a witch-woman or goofy as hell, like this:
This is my "I'm too friendly to not show my affection for the camera handler due to their displayed appreciation of my costume, even though I'm cosplaying as a character where it's best not to smile" ....face.
Matt didn't really want to stay, so Mer un-hooked his leash and left poor Lydia to be our photographer for the whole con. She did a REALLY good job, though! ^_^ The proof is in how many pictures I just HAD to process. :3

Toward the end of our photoshoot, this security guard came over and talked to us for a bit and we filled him in on what exactly was going on (beyond, you know, the fact that it seems like a bunch of whackjobs dressed up in strange clothes). Afterwards, we took a picture with him because he was a cool dude.
Rockin' that utility belt like Batman! I like his "I don't want to be here" expression. That never changed. XD
So, soon after that, we left the con and met up with everyone again and I realized that I had accidentally left my normal shoes (and my... cell phone >_>) at Mer's place, so... I was kinda forced to either wear boots with thigh highs and garters (making me look like a hooker) or boots without socks (UGHHHHHH!!!! KILL ME.). I was totally up for the thigh-highs, but no one else wanted to walk around with a hooker, so black boots without socks it was... until I realized I had a third shoe option.... MY YOKO BOOTS!!! Since I was wearing a jean skirt, it totally seemed less awkward to me to pair it with white, flame-decorated boots than black ones. I also scrunched down my Chidori socks so that was no longer a problem. This made me lol, so I took a picture of it:
Secretly, I was hoping we would encounter some anime fan on the street who would go "HEY, are those YOKO boots?" and I could be like "LOL YEAH!!" but it didn't happen. In fact, it would probably never happen anywhere but at a con, though I am thinking of wearing them on the flight to LA for AX. Ya never know!
I'm really pumped about Memorial Day weekend because Mer, Matt, Ashley, Daniel Mary, John and Patrick are all coming to Gulf Shores and renting a condo! :3333 CANNOT WAIT. One thing I'm NOT pumped about though is the job hunt. Blockbuster is overstocked with employees, Andree's wasn't hiring, and Wintzell's is remodeling and looks all funky so I don't want to go back down there. In fact, I reeeeally don't want to work in the food service industry at all. @_@ But I need money. BAD. *continues the hunt* Expect some sales coming up soon.
