I may be a loser, but at least I can call HBO on its bullshit.
Am I the only one annoyed that the HBO series about John Adams (which I am enjoying thus far), appears to be associating Ben Franklin's Join or Die flag with John Adams and Boston?
Not only that, but if my history is correct the flag wasn't even about rebellion. It was first used during the French and Indian War.
John Adams is badass and all, but let's give credit where credit is due.
(I'm researching it more thoroughly now to make sure I'm right. Apparently I am, but with an added side-note that The Sons of Liberty borrowed it during the Revolutionary War and straightened the snake out to use it for the masthead of the The Massachusetts Spy, which is probably what causes the confusion as to its origin.)
