A magical, fantastical journey!

Yesterday Ruth and I embarked on a magical journey across Michigan following a rainbow, trying to find a pot of gold at the end of it.

We started out, riding the Thunderbird across the sky, looking for signs to where the rainbow led.  We met a fire-breathing dragon along the way, but luckily St. George was there to show us an alternate route.  We thought we had got lost because we travelled through the land of the nyads and driads, but we met up with a travelling musician.  He told us to follow him, but let us go on our own after about 20 miles, but pointing at another route that should have led us in the right direction.  This route led us through tangled forests and dirt paths and (thankfully) led us to a friendly troll who finally pointed us in the right direction.  The clouds parted and the sun shone bright through the mist showing us the rainbow again.

The rainbow led us past Rivertown Crossings, a gathering of local vendors and craftsmen.  We were able to stock up on supplies that we were running short on (aka new clothes).   When finished with our purshases, we peered outside to see the rainbow brighter than it had been all day.  Unfortunately, I lost sight of it in the glare of the sun and took a wrong turn.  After putting on my sunglasses, and some quick navigation by Ruth, we got on the right track to the pot of gold.

20 minutes later, we arrived at the end of the rainbow.  Unfortunately, the leprechaun in charge of the watch of the pot of gold was not there, so we had to wait for our treasure.  In the mean time, we changed into our new, magical, charm inducing garments and set out for dinner.  A nice unicorn (who just happened to attend CMU and validated it with a flash of his student ID) led us to a feast at the Olive Garden, where we indulged in spirits and pasta.

From our feast at the Olive Garden, we hopped back onto the Thunderbird and tried to find the leprechaun who was the keeper of the gold.  This chase was fruitless.  We got a tip from a menacing  mage who was keeping watch over his tower that the leprechaun had left his gold in Parkway Tropics, a gathering place for satyrs.  We got lost in the forest metropolis that Parkway was located in and didn't find our way until 40 minutes later, when we finally gave up and went to the Days Inn to ask some sprites for directions.  After some hesitation from embarassment, they gave us the directions.  (Sprites don't exactly approve of the actions of satyrs).  The satyrs were dancing and flirting and having a gay old time.  They invited us to dance with them because they mistook us for nymphs, and we obliged, but only until 2am.  Orien, one of the satyrs, offered to help us with the search, and we agreed to his offer, but then he backed out for fear that our nymph charms would rid him of the satyr-ish desire to please many women.  We still hadn't found the gold and needed to return to the end of the rainbow to see if the leprechaun was back.

Sure enough, when we arrived at the end of the rainbow, the leprechaun had returned and gave up his treasure.  I slept soundly after rolling around in the gold for a bit, leaving the empty pot for Ruth.  I know it sounds selfish, but it was my idea to follow the rainbow in the first place.

We returned home safely, after deciding to leave the gold at the end of the rainbow.  If we decide to take another fantastical journey again, I think we will go back and visit the satyrs again, maybe this time with out wearing charm inducing garments, so the satyrs do not mistake us for nymphs again, no matter how fun it was.

All in all, it was a fantabulous time.  A trip that I am willing to take over and over again, although I think the Thunderbird needs an upgrade with OnStar before attempting to take us places.  (She's old and gets confused easily.)  (Yes, I'm blaming getting lost on my car's age!)

Now on to other things:

the best voice mail ever!

Alex:  You know i love you and i miss you and whatever and i you know i just you know we should hang out more often cause i feel like where is the love, like the black eyed peas song.
People killin', people dyin' Strippy
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek (giggle giggle)

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin' (dramatic pause)
Where is the love

Yeah, he actually recited that in poem form on a voice mail.
This is just another reason why we are the best of friends.

Also, I met someone, and I can't stop thinking about him.  (and no, he's not a satyr)
