I had the crazy-best weekend ever.
Friday, after getting pizza with Lou and Steph, I drove down to State and got Claire. It poured all the way down there, which was sucky, but it was nicer on the way back. When we got to Alma we did her laundry and went to Wal-Mart. We grabbed Alex, Lou and Steph around 5:15 and went to dinner at The Italian Oven. It was really yummy...I had fettuccini alfredo with chicken and oven-roasted tomatoes. It was delicious and it makes me want some now. We then went shopping at a combination of Maurices, Jo-Ann's, Goodwill, Bath & Body Works, and Old Navy. At 8:40 we saw Ice Age 2 at the Celebration Cinema. It was extremely good and funny. We hit up Coldstone and then came back.
Went over to Evan and Brett's room. They weren't in there so we locked them out for awhile. Evan came tearing in muttering something about girls and going over to Gelston, and grabbed his shoes and left. Brett told us that these girls from GVSU and showed up and some of the guys were taking them over to Gelston. They all came back after a few minutes...there were four girls and a guy. They had gone to the casino but didn't want to pay to stay there so they were staying at a motel in Alma. They had never seen the campus before so they decided to stop by and ended up in first Bruske, with us. By the high point, there were twelve or thirteen people crammed into Evan and Brett's room (eight is considered a party) chatting it up about everything under the sun. I left around 12:30, and they apparently left shortly after that. Evan and Claire wanted to go to Taco Bell, so we did, and on the way there we decided to see if we could track these kids down again (it was about 1:00AM now). So we go to their motel and get them, then we all go to Taco Bell and end up back in their motel room until like 2-2:30ish.
Saturday morning, Claire and I woke up early and drove to Mackinac. Yeah, that's right. It took us two and a half hours of 90s music on my iPod to get up there. NOTHING was open in the city. I swear, that place shuts down between like September through May. To the point that it was creepy. It was still cool to see, and we took some pictures and bummed around on the beach. We wanted to go try to find Suzy's Pasties in St. Ignace, so we crossed the bridge. About that time, Claire's dad called. Turns out he was headed out to our third stop - the cottage. He had no idea Claire was even in Alma this weekend, let alone in the Straights. So she led him on for awhile, telling him she had to go down and eat brunch. Suzy's was closed, so I got beef pasties for Uncle John and I at the Northern Lights, and Claire got a chicken one from some shifty gas station down the road. We tried to make it to the cottage before my uncled did, but alas. He beat us there. The sucky thing was - there was still snow on the ground. And the road was blocked with a snowdrift, which someone had kindly dug out a little. My poor car trying to go over that thing...it's a good thing Claire has experience with Northern driving, let me tell you. So we got there and my uncle was soooo happy to see us and soooo suprised. We ate our food on the deck and walked around in the woods and just relaxed for a few hours before driving back. Claire slept, I put on cruise control and before we knew it, we were back in Alma. We got Subway, and Claire went over to Ben's while I took a nap. When she got back we decided to play Scattergories, which we had to get from Brett, and it ended up being full-fledged game night with myself, Sam, Lou, Steph, E, Alex and Jim. Claire stayed and talked it up with Brett for awhile before coming back here. I think we finally went to bed at around 1:00.
This morning we rolled out of bed at 9:55 and hit the road back to State by ten. We were both exhausted. I went to brunch, which was disappointing, then slept for like three hours. Dinner was pretty good, and I just peeled the outer Heath crust off a melted Klondike bar. Now I need to be studying geology like a fiend.
