Hi Everybody!
So today after work I went to the 75th Anniversary Harkness celebration dinner for Exeter at the Hyatt Regency in London. Needless to say, it was really nice. It was cool because at other Exeter receptions I've been to it is always appetizers or desserts but this was a whole buffet dinner! Since I've been cooking for myself for the past two months it was pretty much the most exciting thing ever to see a whole buffet - of really good food too! To make it even better, the dinner was about $90 but I got to go for free since I'm a young alum. When I first got there I talked to these two girls who are about 10 years older than me and were both Americans working in London. Actually that's what most of the people there were, which makes sense because it is not like there are a lot of British students at Exeter. I also spent awhile talking to this guy who graduated last year and is at St. Andrews and came down just for the Exeter event, and his aunt who is married to an Exonian. Then I had dinner with this guy who is a senior there now and his family, and some of their alum friends. They showed this special movie that was made about Harkness which was good but really cheesy in some parts. Typical Exeter, during dinner we were supposed to discuss the Harkness method and its effect on our lives or something like that, and then one person from each table had to talk about it. I guess everyone used to have to talk but now that the event has gotten so big only one person from each table talks - luckily it wasn't me! It was a really fun night though, and nice to meet other Exonians. I'm off to do some homework and go to bed though, good night! -Katie
