My Birthday Post!
I am officially 28. This has actually been the least shocking of my past five or so birthdays because I spent the majority of this past year thinking that I was already 28, so when I realized my mistake, there was much rejoicing.
The day was most excellent too! It was a gray rainy wet morning, and I had to work today (which, I must add, should be illegal on a person's birthday, I say); however, just as I was leaving work at 3, the sun came out from behind a giant raincloud...and it was so fantastically beautiful, that I felt better right away. I was in such a good mood that I took the back road home, which is a true Pennsylvanian road...windy, up and down, and through farms and woods. It was perfect! The world was still wet from the rain we'd had for the previous 3 days (or so), but the sun was shining, and I have to say...it made me feel like I was looking at the world through a green lens or something. It was the strangest feeling. It was like the world was in black and white, except for all of the green. There was moss on all the trees, and the grass was just beginningto come back to life, and I kept convincing myself that the buds on the trees were opening up too, but a second look proved them to be evergreens. (oh, and I saw a hawk up close...very cool) Anyway, as I was driving, I decided to make myself a cd in my head, of songs that make me happy. I'm pretty easily manipulated by music, I confess, and there are certain songs that have the ability to lift me out of the foulest moods. They are not necessarily my favorite songs (although some of them are), but they are the ones I turn to when I need a pick-me-up. So, I've decided to list them here for posterity:
