Back in 1997, Mr. Medlin, my history teacher in 8th grade, held a mock election for New Jersey governor.  It was between Christi Todd Whitman, and Jim McGreevy.  Well the lady one.  And I have a feeling my teacher voted for Mr. McGreevy but he said he'd never tell us.  He used to tell jokes that were over our heads.  I'm pretty sure it wasn't just me who didn't get them.  And so he always joked about some guy named Lincoln who was also on the ballot.  And we used to ask who he would vote for in the election (since we talked about it in class all the time - I bet election years are a good time for history teachers) and he wouldn't tell us who his vote was for.  Then one day he told us we could ask him at graduation, when we were walking down the isle after getting our diploma and he would tell us "____ Lincoln"  (or whatever his first name was, his last was definitely Lincoln).  Ah, that was all there was to the story.  Oh and one time he told us that if Jim McGreevy ran for Governor again, he would win.  And he did run again and he did win.  Then one time he told us a black man would be president before a white woman.  So, just keep in mind, predictions of Mr. Medlin.  I must look that man up.  What was his first name?
