Another day of waiting for work to start. This is our first game night so I'm excited to see what I'll be doing. Yesterday I had to make calls for season ticket renewals and that's the part I hated, but as Ivan said, I'll only get good at it if I keep on doing it. By the 6th or 7th call I was ok, but still, got a ways to go without tripping over my tongue.
All of my family in LA survived the storm and will be able to go back to living in their houses... at some point. Uncle Mike's place, which I was most concerned about b/c of all the trees, had damage from a tree that fell on the back porch. Lots of trees down in the yard but that will just be hard work to remove it all, which he predicts will take months to do. The house itself, the car, the boat all seem to have made it through ok... I think it's a miracle. Michael's finally gotten a break through this tragedy, his house was spared with minimal damage (comparatively speaking) and he's benefitting with overtime work/pay. As much as working overtime can truly suck, I believe that it is a blessing for him to help him get back on his feet after a very rough year or so. Holly and Louis obviously have a lot of damage but I think they will be ok, they'll probably stay with U.Mike until the house gets fixed and that isn't such a bad scenario. For those of you who have asked about them over the last week, I really appreciate it. I feel so helpless for my own family and for those tons and tons of people who were affected. It has made me, once again, considering going into the Nat'l Guard... but I'm thinking that even in these hard times I can't help right now. I will be looking into it though for after graduation. I'll make the right decision when the time comes. Toodles for now.
