October is...

...matchmaking month. I cannot even begin to tell you how many of my friends are now dating someone. Some of them have been long time coming and it was expected to happen eventually. Some of them were completely out of the blue, just worked out that way, and it's amazing. I'm thrilled for all of them because I love my friends and want them to be happy (You know you love someone when you want them to be happy, even if it's not with you) I loved dating Chris...he was sweet, we had fun. But....one boyfriend in 22 years....it leaves a long time to listen to everybody else talk about their amazing significant other. And I love it, don't get me wrong. Just wish I had more to contribute to the story sessions. However, I don't want to date someone just to say I'm dating someone, I want him to be absolutely spectacular. Oh well, guess this is my season for listening and sharing others' happiness.

Meanwhile, October is also the time for applying to grad schools. Please, no one freak out. I'm only applying at UGA since that's where I am (great job, great apartment with amazing roommate--and a lease) But....as an employee, I get free tuition so, why not take advantage of it? Printed out 33 pages of masters degrees w/ descriptions and based off that have selected a few for furthur inquiry/research:
Appealing:
-Business Administration: Full-time, Evening (part-time), and Executive MBA Programs [duh, I'm a secretary, now let me be a professional one]
-Child and Family Development (MFCS) [I love little kids!]
-Child and Family Development (MS)
-Early Childhood Education (MED) [If my Sunday School kids don't kill me, I'll reapply.]
-English (MA) [Remember those posters that list 100+ things you can do w/ an English degree? I'm starting to think they were right!]
-English (MAT)
-Greek (MA) [I don't know why but it's appealing.]
-Guidance and Counseling (MA) [I like to help people.]
-Guidance and Counseling (MED)

-Law [also appealing in the unknown]
-Marketing and Distribution (PhD) [If I end up in Admissions for a University...]
-Marketing Research (MMR) [ditto for Admissions work]
-Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors (MS) [Interior Design perhaps?]
-Theatre and Film Studies (MFA) [still going for the SportsCenter thing]

Possible:
-Accounting (MAcc) [I love it and hate it]
-Art (MFA) [Interior Design?]
-Classical Languages (MA) [like a fancier, well-rounded Greek...]
-College Student Affairs Administration (MA) [Admissions? Advising?]
-College Student Affairs Administration (MED)
-Educational Administration and Policy (MED) [Admissions? Advising?]
-Educational Psychology (MA) [well, I work here...]
-Educational Psychology (MED)
-Human Resource and Organizational Development (MED) [business again...]
-Philosophy (MA) [kinda like English, you can be anything you want to be]
-Public Administration (MPA) [sounded businiess-y]
-Recreation and Leisure Studies (MA) [SportsCenter related]
-Recreation and Leisure Studies (MED)
-Recreation and Leisure Studies (PhD)
-Romance Languages (MA) [I know Spanish...]
-Romance Languages (MAT)

So....I *still* don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Yeah, pretty much nothing's changed ;)
