it was a kiss about trees and dream and moon moods; a kiss about lust and gamble, of dancing nymphs and yellow-tailed lizards. the fever crept up, the body swayed and drifted into the cloud smears blotted among the deep blue above. the knees weakened, as they do, and every inch of skin grew hot with this new knowledge of you. there was no earth but ours, no moon but the one we kissed beneath. i saw deeply into you, far back to other worlds and other times, every step your soul had taken before me, every death that befell you, every crack and strain on your heart that made it swell. it was a kiss about tomorrow. it was a dream we had as children. it was a prologue and a second act. a melody. a tarot card in the tenth position. a memory.
