I can post about it publicly. And there was much rejoicing. (Yay.)
Anyways, we mailed the letter out Monday, and it's made the rounds now: my supervisor has officially resigned as pastor for this congregation and will be joining a congregation further north. We will both have the same last Sunday. I've known he was looking for another congregation for some time, as there was some concern as to whether he would be staying here as long as I would. Staying long enough to finish my final evaluation was a given, but had there been extenuating circumstances he might have left a week or two before me.
Anyways, it's a relief that it's finally public information, and there hasn't been a lot of drama about it yet- though this Sunday will be the first where everyone knows, and we're having a congregational meeting already (planned weeks ago, general informational thing), an ice cream social, and I'm having my last lay internship team meeting that day after all that. So it'll be a long morning.
This has not been what I had planned for my internship, obviously, but I suppose there are good points to it. I've seen the inside of the mobility process in a way that I doubt any of my classmates will have. I've learned in many practical and different ways something I already thought in a theoretical sense- the bishop's office can be a great help in times of stress, and the phrase "When in doubt, call the bishop" is, in the right synod, a catchphrase for a reason- it's true.
So... what's next? Moving. Grr.
