The road goes ever on and on... to Florence. And Pisa. And Beaulieu.
The picture up there is me on our drive from Venice to Florence. We drove so that we could see the Tuscan hills and what not... very pleasant drive. Our driver was amazing. He was about 35-40, very nice, and loved his job. His name was Joseph, and he works for Arno Travel, based out of Florence. You know. In case anyone ever goes to Italy and wants to take an excursion or something. ^_^
Florence from Micheangelo Square.. I think. Don't hold me to that. See where the Cathedral is? Our hotel was about halfway between it and the river. It was right by the Escada store.
Aww... it's our room! I think that everything in Florence is pink and green. I think it's the town colors or something... *forgets*
The Basilica Santa Maria del Fiore. See? Pink and green. My remeberance of my humanities education tells me that this type of architecture and light marble is characteristic to the Tuscan Italians.
Me standing in front of a shot of the Duomo and the smaller domes around it. I'm wearing my "Ewe's not fat, ewe's just fluffy!" shirt.
The bell tower. Pretty, eh?
The Gates of Heaven, in all their glorious detail. Meh. I think that MIGHT be me in the far left.
*hug a column* Yep. That's just ONE of many huuuuuuuuuuuge columns inside the basilica.
Me. Waiting in line to get into the Uffizi. Probably smiling more because I just had a huge cone of gelato than because I was actually happy. Waiting was hot and dissatisfying because there was a tourist strike that day and we only got to see a few rooms we wanted to see, and we had waited in line for THREE HOURS the day before to get in before we left in resignation. If you go there, get in line early in the morning or BUY ADVANCED TICKETS.
The FAKE David... *growls*... DAMN YOU STRIKE!!
The TOWER!! It's LEANING!!!! AHHHH!!!
I look very tall and thin in this picture. And I desperately needed a slip with that skirt. I could have just brought that skirt, that top, my pink shirt, a white tank top, and a couple of other essentials and had been fine. But a girl will be a girl. ^_^
This is Beaulieu Sur Mer.... :-D The view outside our window. Not bad, eh? I LOVED THOSE CABANAS.
Just where that little thing jutts out.. it's under the second umbrella from the right.. that's how you get into the Medditeranean.
The pool and Monaco off in the background.
Our room. They gave us automatic upgrades to sea-view rooms because they're sooo desperate for American tourists. Not shabby, eh?
Next stop? Paris.
This picture was ACTUALLY taken in the train station in Nice, but I thought it was appropriate for a little bit of Fangirl <3.
