on second thought, let's all hate the pretty people
everyone hates 'sleeping beauty' because all aurora has are her looks. but you know, i bet you right after "the gift of beauty" and "the gift of song", not being a total stump was next.
and as it goes, maleficent came in and put a hex on our girl. so meriwether (and i think rightly so) chose saving her life over giving her a personality.
besides, that peasant dress she wears in the beginning is the most adorable thing i have seen. never mind that she was wearing nylons, which did not exist in the fourteenth century. i still love her for her fashion. even with the nylon error, it is far better than either jasmine's, arial's, or snow white's (which is atrocious).
besides, she gets prince phillip, who does have a personality as well as looks. in fact, phillip is kind of a bad ass. (for more on the psychology of phillip, read katherine's article about how beautiful women make men stupid and forget about the future. he's a sensible man, but one look at aurora and phillip is ready to renounce the throne. sigh).
