the note i found attached to my bio midterm:

Feb 18, 2004 16:40

"Katheryn-- You have 50 minutes. This midterm involves four short novels in question form. Each is designed to give the immediate sensation that you have learned nothing this quarter. You will space out and wonder what it is like to get a 0 on a midterm.
[Approx. Time elapsed: 12 minutes]
Shake yourself back to reality. After rereading the questions, you will discover you can do them. You will reread once more.
[Approx. Time elapsed: 24 minutes]
You will proceed to do good work, answering the problems precisely and logically.
[Approx. Time elapsed: 37 minutes]
You will stop your work and flip through the questions. You look at the clock. You will swear under your breath.
[Approx. Time elapsed: 39 minutes]
Time to be tested on "real world" skills. Race through the test and write whatever comes to mind and sounds feasible to you in this fevered state.
[Approx. Time elapsed: 50 minutes]
Time's up. The professor will now collect the tests. Look one last time at your test and realize that you spent your last precious moments on a question you didn't understand when you could have answered number 2 correctly.
[Approx. Time elapsed: 52 minutes]
The professor is now looking directly at you and threatening to not take your test at all unless you give it to him now.
Students from the next class begin to enter the classroom. Take minimal comfort in the fact that everyone who just took that test is grumbling. Minimal comfort because... there is no curve.

You may open your test and begin."
