a non-dancing entry
Until I looked back at my last few posts, I didn't realize I'd been writing almost entirely about dancing. Sorry, but that's still one of my favorite hobbies.
I enjoy my job but anything that comes up there is not usually subject matter that should be posted on the interweb. Suffice to say, I enjoy the challenges most of the time and sometimes things are frustrating. I've learned a lot about manipulating the bureaucracy. It's not that I enjoy bureaucracy but maneuvering within a system is important to know. Also, I'm trying to learn more long-term strategies for dealing with superiors, peers, and subordinates 'cause a lot of my methods for dealing with co-workers so far have been developed out of the thousand and one short-term jobs I've had, never from anywhere that I expected to stay for at least a few years.
I like our apartment even if I have given up on decorating for a while. It's kind of far from lots of things (<---least specific sentence ever!) but the Park'n'Ride combined with the Metro is nice. Even if my boss did pull me aside yesterday to tell me that a Metro/sheriff buddy of his told him that the Metro is horribly unsafe and absolutely filled with crime of all kinds. I don't think I'm in any kind of danger, except maybe from pickpockets, during commuter hours when the trains are packed with people, though, so I'm not too worried about it.
Erm, that's all I've got for now. Dinner beckons.
