Just a short one, double drabble because I was thinking about father's day. :)
Brother's Day
Words: 229
Sam didn't really have a father for father's day.
wee!chesters.
The card was blue, with handfuls of plastic wrap and green cellophane Clag Glue-d in sporadic clusters across the front. The blue and black pen on the front spelled out Dean’s full name in Sam’s hectic handwriting, with sketches of lightning bolts coloured in yellow pencil with no regards for colouring within the lines. In Dean’s hands, it felt heavy as he flipped it open to find more of Sammy’s smudged black pen on the inside.
Sam smiled up at him expectantly, eyes wide and enthusiastic as his brother read the card he’d made for him.
“D’you like it?” he asked without giving Dean a chance to finish reading.
Dean took a steady breath, and looked down at his little brother. “Sammy, I think you were supposed to make this for Dad...”
“So? He’s never around. He’s always at work. You’re the one who takes care o’me.”
Dean raised his brow, sighing slightly at his brother’s fair summary. “It’s still Father’s Day...”
“D’you like it?” Sam asked again, a little impatient, but seemingly unhurt by his brother’s wariness.
Dean took a moment, and then let a smile creep across his lips. “More than Brittany Elks in ninth grade...”
“What?” Sam asked, perplexed at his older brother’s little joke as Dean chuckled to himself.
Dean looked down at Sam seriously, “I love it.”
Sam cracked a wide grin, “Really?”
“Totally.”
