call me a sap, but I'm a cynical one

I'd really like to see this. I'm not sure if it will be a bloated, masturbatory, self-congratulatory sort of thing, what with all the directorial cooks stirring an actor-heavy soup, but for now it looks a bit magical. At any rate, Gaspard Ulliel is in it, and that's always an aesthetic plus.

Why do American release dates lag so far behind? I suppose that's a universal (the karma, not the company) payback of sorts for the fact that the rest of the world so often has to wait for US films. Ah, well. Just means more waiting to see if Sunshine is as awful as its premise makes it sound, or instead a "thematically updated version of 2001: A Space Odyssey."

I'm in the middle of watching "On the Edge," an earlyish Cillian Murphy movie. Had to shut it off whilst the rest of the household went to bed (not sure how I'm going to adjust my sleep schedule so dramatically in the coming week), but I'm enjoying it thus far. It's rather strange and sudden (not that those are negatives), and a little more superficial than I'd like, but I'm still excited to continue.

Oh, movies. How I've missed you.

EDIT: I actually did like On The Edge. It helped that they used David Gray at the end, but I thought it was a really good show.
